 I've been living in Montana the past couple of months and last weekend we went up to Glacier National Park. We hiked to Iceberg Lake as well as Avalanche Lake (both are lake destinations as we have some avid fishers in our group!) And while the hikes were as pretty as a postcard, there was one hike I had yet to do that will always stand out from the rest to me. And that man is John Wesley Powell. He is awesome. Alright, so it's my first time writing in over a year, and I actually didn't really plan on talking about anything relevant to r.l. or art... I'm working on a research paper concerning how indigenous people managed landscape and during my scour for primary sources I came across Powell's journal, "The Exploration of the Colorado River" The first few passages talk  about their shoving-off and beginning their expedition, facing rapids and all kinds of fun, adventurous stuff. Iceland Attack!

So yeah...Whoa, BAM, I'm back! Not just back online but back from Studying Abroad in Iceland (2 weeks ago) and let me tell you, it was AMAZING! I took plenty of pictures and I'll work on putting them up over the next few days to show you what I've been up to, after all a picture's worth a thousand words and I took plenty! We got to hike across a glacier, eat lunch in a desert, wander cliff sides, boat among icebergs, take ash samples around Eyjafjallajokull, and saw more waterfalls than I care to count...*sigh* I miss it!
